  • Kick off – XXVI Estonian Festival in Australia

Kick off – XXVI Estonian Festival in Australia

    XXVI Estonian Festival in Australia

    Adelaide, 27-31 December 2016

The first meeting of the XXVI Estonian Festival in Australia was held recently. The committee has decided to launch an Estonian Festival logo competition with a deadline of 15th September 2015. The details will be advertised on the Internet, Meie Kodu, Virgats (Adelaide’s Estonian Newsletter) and other Estonian Group Emails, Media and even Social Media.

During initial discussions regarding Festival Programming it was decided to base it, on traditional Estonian music, Folk-dancing and Arts and Craft, to be complemented by artists from Estonia along with the usual events associated with Australian Estonian Festivals. Bearing in mind the changing demographics of our community, it is important to present functions of interest to our younger Estonian minded generations along with embracing and encouraging new Estonians that have arrived in Australia in the last 20 years to attend.

The Festival Committee will endeavour to do its utmost to present a successful Festival and will look forward to a tremendous interest and participation of the Australian Estonian community and attracting people from other parts of our ‘Global Estonian Societies’ including those from Estonia.

We look forward to seeing you all in Adelaide, Australia in December 2016.

    Richard Semenov
